Sekitar bulan November lalu, Fedora Project merilis OS terbarunya, yaitu Fedora 12. Fedora 12 ini diberi codename : Constantine. Fedora sepertinya ingin melanjutkan codename yang berasal dari mitologi Yunani kuno, setelah sebelumnya, Fedora 11 juga menggunakan codename dari mitologi tersebut, yaitu Leonidas.

Fedora 12 memiliki beberapa keunggulan dibanding distro lain. Diantaranya, dukungan keamanan yang terkenal baik karena memang background Fedora adalah dari Red Hat, yang merupakan perusahaan enterprise server. Software-software pada Fedora juga selalu up-to-date, misalnya Thunderbird yang dipakai adalah versi 3, sementara distro lain masih menggunakan versi 2.

Pengalaman menginstall Fedora ini, lancar-lancar saja. Installernya sangat mudah dipahami. Setelah instalasi sukses, kita akan diminta untuk melakukan konfigurasi sistem. Setelah semuanya selesai, Fedora siap digunakan.

First look Fedora 12, menurut saya lebih fresh daripada Fedora 11. Pada Fedora 11, rasanya window-windownya terlalu kaku sehingga seperti OS yang kurang futuristik. Sementara di Fedora 12, themenya tergolong bagus, sehingga menghilangkan kesan kaku.

Perubahan besar lainnya adalah digantinya software Instant Messaging yang sudah sangat melekat di Linux, yaitu Pidgin. Pidgin mulai versi ini akan digantikan dengan Empathy. Empathy dipilih karena memiliki dukungan yang baik untuk VOIP dan webcam. Sebenarnya bukan hanya Fedora saja yang menggantinya, tetapi Ubuntu, distro sejuta umat, juga menggantinya. Entah mengapa..

Untuk performa, menurut saya sangat baik, tidak pernah terjadi crash selama ini. Bisa dibilang Fedora ini memang distro yang sangat reliable. Untuk updatenya, sangat mudah karena ada fasilitas yum, repositorinya pun selalu terupdate sehingga memberi jaminan pada kita bahwa software-software kita pasti adalah versi yang terbaru.

Menurut saya, Fedora memberi reliability yang lebih baik daripada Ubuntu, so, inilah distro primary saya :D

Harry Potter terbaru keluar juga...
Dan seperti biasa, sebelum nonton film adaptasi dari buku pasti sudah skeptis duluan.. ga bakal lebih bagus dari bukunya, ato minimal sama.

Bagi yang belum baca sih pasti merasa film nya lumayan ato malah bagus, tapi aku yakin fans harry potter pasti sudah baca bukunya, dan membuat film ini kurang 'wah'.. hehehe
Kebiasaan.. kalo nonton film pasti bandingin sama bukunya..

MY OPINION

Tidak ada yang spesial. Walaupun juga tidak jelek juga.
Jadi bisa dibilang film ini biasa-biasa saja.. Minimal bagi yang sudah baca novelnya

Seperti kebanyakan film adaptasi dari novel/buku, pasti jalan ceritanya terlalu cepat/dipotong-potong. Padahal film ini sendiri runtime nya 2 jam 30 menit lebih.. Tapi rasanya masih ada yang kurang

Efek-efek di film ini bagus, tanpa cacat. Dan ada beberapa adegan kocak agar film ini tidak terlalu serius. Ini bagus, karena siapa pun yang nonton film selama 2 jam 30 menit lebih tanpa komedi pasti akan bosan.

CONCLUSION

Tidak ada yang spesial, walaupun tidak jelek.
Jadi bisa dikategorikan sebagai film yang biasa-biasa saja

Terminator, a great and cruel story about machine and human.. now back!
The latest Terminator before this one is Terminator : Rise of Machine (Terminator 3)

Hmm... if you think about Terminator, who is a man you always remember? Of course, Arnold Schwarzenegger with his famous word "I'll be back".. But, in this Terminator, he is not included in the cast list. But, you will encounter his face, although just a while.

The main characther is Christian Bale. Do you remember him? Yup, the Bruce Wayne in The Dark Knight.

Terminator Salvation gets 7.3/10 in IMDB. It is greater than it predecessor, Terminator 3.

MY THOUGHTS

It is a full-action movie. Sorry folks, no room for romance or depressing scenes. Yes, from the beginning until the end of this movie, there are action, action, action, and action.

It's great to see a lot of great actions and effects. But, despite it, I think the main story is not too exciting. Very simple. That's : "John Connor save his father, Kyle Reese."

It's totally no brainer if you've watched the other Terminator movies. Just sit down, and watch. You won't say "What was that? I don't understand..".

Despite it cons, the actions and the effects here is five star!

CONCLUSION

This movie has a great actions and effect, very good, but it also has too simple storyline...

I think it deserve to get:

Based on true story, The story is about Jewish brothers, Tuvia, Zus, Asael, and Aron who escape from Nazi in Belarussia. Yup... this movie sets in 1941, in world war 2, when Nazi occupied Belarussia.

In IMDB, Defiance gets 7.3/10. Not bad..

MY THOUGHT

Defiance is not bad movie, but not a great movie either.

When I saw it, I was a bit boring. I wonder why...
It needs more actions in my opinion... A 137 minutes movie with few actions..

But it is okay. Because its genre is drama and war.

So my last word is, this is not a war-movie at all, but a drama movie packed in war. So, if you don't like dramas, but you like war so much, this movie is not suitable for you.

CONCLUSION

This is a good drama movie, but not great though

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button movie is adapted from a short story with the same title by Scott Fitzgerald.

This movie stars Brad Pitt as Benjamin Button and Cate Blanchett as Daisy, two main characters in this movie, and directed by David Fincher. This movie won 3 oscars. Pretty good :)

Reading the title of this movie, we will know what this movie is all about. Yes, a strange case happened to Benjamin Button. That strange case is unlike the other people, who grow up from baby to old, Benjamin grows up from old man to baby.



SYNOPSIS

On the day that Hurricane Katrina hits New Orleans, elderly Daisy Williams (nee Fuller) is on her deathbed in a New Orleans hospital. At her side is her adult daughter, Caroline. Daisy asks Caroline to read to her aloud the diary of Daisy's lifelong friend, Benjamin Button. Benjamin's diary recounts his entire extraordinary life, the primary unusual aspect of which was his aging backwards, being diagnosed with several aging diseases at birth and thus given little chance of survival, but who does survive and gets younger with time. Abandoned by his biological father, Thomas Button, after Benjamin's biological mother died in childbirth, Benjamin was raised by Queenie, a black woman and caregiver at a seniors home. Daisy's grandmother was a resident at that home, which is where she first met Benjamin. Although separated through the years, Daisy and Benjamin remain in contact throughout their lives, reconnecting in their forties when in age they finally match up. Some of the revelations in Benjamin's diary are difficult for Caroline to read, especially as it relates to the time past this reconnection between Benjamin and Daisy, when Daisy gets older and Benjamin grows younger into his childhood years. MY THOUGHT

Because of the very slow plot, this movie lasts for 2 hours and 40 minutes. Wow.. just like Watchmen. But, it's great because all of the stories in this movie are so detailed.

The idea of the movie is simple, recount what happen in Benjamin's diary. But, that's brilliant, I think simplicity is great. Whit this story-telling method, the director could just skip any part of Benjamin's that aren't needed for this movie. Imagine if this movie just like another movie... Considering that this movie is tells about Benjamin's whole life, there will be a lot of "... years later" messages. Hehehe

This movie's visual effect is great. For example, the "Fish-catcher boat versus Submarine" scene. Not only the visuall effect, but also the make-up is great. As if one person could have a lot of different faces. Oh, yes. This visual effect and make-up won oscar. :)


CONCLUSION

A Good Movie. Very Recommended to be watched.
Tells us about the meaning and hardship of life.
